First Annual Irish Games

On Sunday, October 23rd, the IAS held its first annual Irish Games Day at the Fox and Hound Pub and Grille in Richardson. It was a great day to be indoors as Fall finally arrived in Dallas. If you closed your eyes, you might just have thought you were back on the ‘auld sod’. Well almost!  Teams were determined by a blind draw, which was a great way for people to get to know each other. Each team played darts, billiards and shuffleboard. After playing at each station, the team with the highest number of points was determined.

The lucky winners of the first annual Irish Games were Rick Howell and Ciaran Moynihan. Ciaran may not have been the best darts player ever to come out of Ireland, but the lad from Mullingar certainly knew how to play pool! All of the players demonstrated great team spirit, but it was Rick and Ciaran who each walked away with a bottle of Ireland’s finest.

We would like to express our gratitude to Brian Cherney for his assistance with planning this event. We would also like to thank all the board members as well as Tina Jans for their help. Planning an event like this definitely takes a team effort! A big thanks is due to the staff of the Fox and Hound, who not only worked hard throughout the afternoon, but provided the Society with some fantastic raffle prizes. Last, but not least, we are very grateful to all of the IAS members and their guests who participated in the “Irish Games” as well as the raffle.

Here are a few photos from the day.
